Glitter, sequins and hot chicks on skates. A typical Saturday arvo practice session with the Sydney Roller Derby League? WRONG! The 2009 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade!
This year I was lucky enough to be a participant in the parade (my first LGBT event of it’s kind) with the SRDL, glammed out with gllitter, a black eye and missing teeth. The theme? Global Derby Domination (featuring the logos of leagues throughout the world) and Derby Damage, complete with bloody nurses and beaten derby gals.
